Hello,

My name is Jonathan and I have a problem that I believe you can help me with! My wife grew up in the independent fundamentalist baptist circle and still suffers from the emotional abuse she encounter so long. She has found a lot of support and encouragement from your podcast but I want to help her find a good Christian councilor to help her through the trauma. How can I find a good Christian councilor that I know I can trust and will help her heal?

The other problem I have is that I am not able to relate to her previous circumstances and pains of growing up “fundy”. I did not grow up in any church. I grew up on the streets where I struggled with drug addiction, poverty, and violence at a very young age. When I accepted Jesus Christ as my savior (in my early 20’s), I came to terms with my past and took on a new identity in Christ. Because of our vast social difference in growing up I cannot to understand her emotional hurts and pains like I need as her husband. Can you please give me advice on how to help and understand her better?

To further complicate the matters the woman I married is my Pastor’s daughter! We are both greatly active in our small local independent baptist church. Because of the current circumstances we don’t believe it is God’s will to get up find a new church home. I want to help and support my wife I just don’t know how I can relate or how I can find a councilor to help! Can you please help?

P.S. Thank you for all you do with the podcast! You are helping people (like her) in ways you can’t imagine!
